Minnesota has to learn that just because you're open behind the three point line, doesn't mean you should take the shot. The Timberwolves 52% from inside the three point line. If they had just decided to take some of those 20 shots closer to the basket they could have flipped the score on the Rockets. Simply by cutting the number of three point shots in half, and assuming the Timberwolves had consistent shot selection inside the three point arch, they would have earned an additional 10 points.

Timberwolves players, please for the sake of your owner's heart and your fans pride, make the decision to find a better shot, because its obvious that as of now, a three point attempt is nearly as good as a turnover.

It has become clear. If Wally Szczerbiak can be a consistent scoring threat the Timberwolves have a very good chance of making the playoffs. If he struggles, they are going to have a lot of close games. Jaric, Griffin, Olowokandi et al are decent supplemental scorers. The Timberwolves need Wally to be a consistent number two. They have to count on getting 35-40 points out of Garnett and Szczerbiak. If they don't, it's going to be a long season.

It has now begun in earnest. The mainstream media's desire to have the most accessible and likeable NBA star in one of the major markets. It must drive the marketing people nuts that the some of the biggest stars and big noisemakers are in these "non-big time" markets. Tim Duncan is in San Antonio, Ron Artest is in Indianapolis, Dirk Nowitski is in Dallas and the shine is off of Kobe in Los Angeles. Rumors already have Lebron as good as signed with the Knicks when he becomes a free agent and as shown below the LA Times continues its quest of wishful thinking by ignoring other published reports, quotes and facts, so they can raise the issue of Kevin Garnett being traded. If Garnett was as easily influenced by the media as Kobe it might work...However, I'd be shocked if Garnett was ever traded from Minnesota.

When will MLB executives learn that any numbers earned in Colorado can't be trusted? It seems that the Padres' GM is under the misconception that his new acquisition, Vinny Castilla, will be able to provide power in PetCo park. Castilla very well could provide power in PetCo park...if it was located in Colorado, not if it stays in its current location of beautiful San Diego. So unless the Padres are moving to the Rocky mountains, this was a pathetic trade. In addition, they dealt a decent to average starting pitcher for an over the hill third baseman with limited range, in an off-season that is going to be sorely lacking in pitching. What happens when in January, someone is able to land a Corey Koskie for a decent starting pitcher and a prospect? How much worse will this Castilla acquisition look then?
